Sweet Hotteok
Golden pan-fried pancakes with a molten brown sugar, cinnamon, and nut filling that oozes out when you bite in. Korea's favorite winter street food dessert.

Ingredients
Step 1 — Make the dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Step 2 — Make the filling
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts or peanuts
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Step 3 — Cook
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for pan-frying)

Make the dough
Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk and oil. Knead 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and rise 1 hour until doubled.

Fill and shape
Divide dough into 8 balls. Flatten each, place 1 tablespoon filling in center, pinch closed, and gently flatten into a disk.

Pan-fry
Cook hotteok in oiled skillet over medium-low heat 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and sugar caramelizes. Serve immediately — filling will be very hot.
