Ingredients
Step 1 — Mash and mix
- 4 ripe Hass avocados
- Juice of 2 limes
- ½ cup white onion (finely diced)
- 1 Roma tomato (diced, seeds removed)
- 2 serrano or jalapeño peppers (minced)
- ½ cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp ground cumin (optional)

Prepare the avocados
Halve avocados, remove pits, and scoop flesh into a bowl. Add lime juice immediately to prevent browning. Mash with a fork to desired consistency — chunky is traditional.

Fold in the aromatics
Gently fold in onion, tomato, serrano, cilantro, salt, and cumin if using. Taste and adjust salt and lime. For best flavor, let sit 15 minutes before serving.
