- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Salt and black pepper to taste

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.

Add diced sweet potato, chopped red onion, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened and sweet potato begins to tenderize.

Stir in chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Add the rinsed black beans, diced tomatoes with green chilies, and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
