Zaru Udon (Cold Udon)
Chilled udon noodles served on a bamboo mat with a cold dipping sauce. Refreshing, light, and perfect for hot weather.

Ingredients
Step 1 — Noodles
- 4 servings udon noodles
- Ice water (for chilling)
Step 2 — Tsuyu dipping sauce
- ½ cup mentsuyu (noodle soup base)
- 1½ cups cold water
- Grated daikon
- Wasabi
- Sliced green onions
- Toasted nori strips

Cook and chill
Boil udon until tender. Drain and rinse under cold running water until completely chilled. Drain well.

Serve
Divide noodles among zaru mats or plates. Dilute mentsuyu with cold water for dipping sauce. Serve with grated daikon, wasabi, green onions, and nori on the side.
