Matar Paneer
Cubes of paneer and sweet green peas in a rich tomato-onion gravy. A North Indian weeknight favorite — mild, creamy, and perfect with naan or rice.

Ingredients
Step 1 — Prep ingredients
- 12 oz paneer (cubed)
- 1½ cups green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee
Step 2 — Gravy
- 1 large onion (pureed)
- 2 medium tomatoes (pureed)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup water
- 2 tbsp cream (optional)
- Fresh cilantro
Step 3 — Serve
- Basmati rice
- Naan or roti

Sauté paneer
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and lightly fry paneer cubes until golden on edges. Set aside.

Make gravy
In the same pan, heat remaining oil and add cumin seeds. Add onion purée and cook 5 minutes. Add ginger-garlic paste, then tomato purée and all spices. Cook 8 minutes until oil separates. Add peas, water, and salt; simmer 5 minutes. Fold in paneer and cream.

Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
