- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (like avocado or canola)
Step 2 — For the Peanut Sauce
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tbsp warm water
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari)
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
Step 3 — Optional Garnishes
- Chopped peanuts
- Sliced green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1
Prepare Tofu
Ensure tofu is well-pressed to remove excess water. Cut into 1-inch cubes. In a medium bowl, toss tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- 2
Air Fry Tofu
Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Add the coated tofu cubes to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Drizzle with 1 tbsp of oil and toss gently to coat. Cook for 18-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 3
Make Peanut Sauce
While tofu is cooking, whisk together peanut butter, warm water, soy sauce, lime juice, maple syrup, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. Add more water, 1 tsp at a time, if needed to reach desired consistency.

Combine and Serve
Once the tofu is crispy, transfer it to a clean bowl. Pour the peanut sauce over the hot tofu and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped peanuts, green onions, and sesame seeds if desired.
