Thinly sliced beef marinated in soy sauce and calamansi, pan-fried with caramelized onions. Filipino beef steak at its finest — tangy, savory, and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients
Step 1 — Marinate the beef
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin (thinly sliced)
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup calamansi or lemon juice
- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- ½ tsp black pepper
Step 2 — Cook and serve
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 large onions (sliced into rings)
- Steamed white rice

Marinate
Combine beef, soy sauce, calamansi, garlic, and pepper. Marinate at least 15 minutes (up to 2 hours in the refrigerator).

Pan-fry the beef
Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Remove beef from marinade (reserve marinade). Sear beef in batches 1–2 minutes per side. Set aside.

Caramelize onions and finish
In the same pan, cook onion rings 3–4 minutes until softened and golden. Pour in reserved marinade and simmer 2 minutes. Return beef to pan, toss to coat. Serve over steamed rice.
